TODAY’S ADVENT DEVOTION.   December 12, 2025

Day 12: “God WILL Finally Answer”. Scripture: Luke 1:13

What never fails to surprise me as a Pastor is the number of Christians I meet who love God, but secretly, they feel God has cursed them in some area of their life.

Some personal tragedy has happened in their life, or sometimes it is the opposite…they WANT something personal to happen, but the tragedy is after years of praying, it never happened. Someone is single, and despite tearful prayers, God has not sent the right person. To add to the pain, they feel pressures from family, unfair assumptions, or feel judged. Or maybe someone rejected you, and you never got over the pain they caused. Again, you fear what others may think and feel that people judge you and think something must be wrong with you – even when actually, there is something wrong in THEIR character, not yours. But still, here you are, holding the bill for the pain. It’s easy to feel that God allowed your life to be unfair. In that rainy thought-cloud above your head you ask, “Why did I get the short end of the stick?”

You and Elizabeth have a lot in common. All her life she hope to be a mother, but it never happened. Imagine all the years, the tears, and prayers unanswered. Each year, her friends and relatives had babies. They grew into toddlers, then teens, and Elizabeth still sat with an empty lap. Perhaps she felt SHE was the broken one, or that she was a disappointment to her husband and others. Surely, she felt judged at times and that no one around her could understand the lonely pain in her life.

But remember, the entire book of Job was written to show us that Heaven often holds a reason for your season. Even if you feel cursed, if you are in Christ, He holds no curse upon you. God’s ways are mysterious on the surface. Perhaps what seems like a curse is a protective blessing! He has protected you from harm or something far worse than the pain you now go through. Remember that the character of God is always that He is good. He loves His children more than we can imagine. The cross is your proof! Remember to ease the burden of your own cross.

We learn from Elizabeth that when Christ comes, there will be blessing! She was finally blessed even though it almost took a lifetime. Christ comes to you as well! And even if in this life you don’t get what you hoped for, will Christ not come to bless you in time? “Those who sow tears shall reap in joy” (Psalm 126.5). It may be that after this short age, your blessing will come: If you don’t get healing here; you will there! Don’t have answers now; you will there and be satisfied! There, your loneliness, your frustration, your disappointment, your anger, Christ will cast into the sea and wipe away your tears! Because Christ comes, to Elizabeth and to us, our joy will be made complete. Keep faith, good Christian!

PRAYER:

Lord, sometimes the emptiness is too much to bear. I know Your promises, yet I still feel hollow and empty. In these times, come near to me and speak to my remembrance Your promises that my healing will soon be here and I shall reap in joy!

You will be blessed!

As we go through life, each of us needs a place where we can connect.  Where we can come into the presence of God and worship Him, where we can receive spiritual strength and guidance for the week ahead, and where we can belong to a caring group of people who can encourage us along the way.

The people of Faith Lutheran Church have been moved by the love of God. In Jesus Christ, we have found peace and purpose for life. In each other we have found the joy of a Christian family.

Wherever you are in your life, there is a place for you at Faith Lutheran Church. We look forward to meeting you and to the possibility of celebrating life and the love of God together. Please, come and be our guest.
